It's been a long time since I've posted. Life has been crazy this past month, from packing up our belongings in Florida to driving across the country and finally reaching our destination in California! I would like to thank you all for posting comments and wishing us well on our journey. I felt all of your positive vibes and consider the trip a success!
It took us about 2 weeks to find an apartment and we're still waiting for our POD to arrive from Florida. So that means no furniture, no dishes, no clothes! Luckily we had the foresight to pack the essentials in the car so we wouldn't have to start over completely. We settled across the bay in Emeryville which is home to Pixar! We found a lovely apartment that has a view of the Berkeley hills and train tracks (blech!). The search was extremely grueling, but I'm happy that we were able to find something within our price range and with the amenities that we're accustomed to in Florida. I can't tell you how many apartments we viewed that didn't have a washer and dryer in the building.
This is the view from our windows of the Berkeley Hills. We can also see the UC Berkeley stadium!
Close-up of the stadium. The stadium was built on a fault line, so construction is underway to repair damage from prior seismic activity and will reinforce it against future quakes.
Today was our last day for making our residency official. We spent a few hours, yes hours, at the DMV. Drumroll, please! Our new license plate! We'll receive our driver's licenses in a few weeks. No going back now!
