Yay or Nay?

Happy Friday, readers! Waahooo!

Is anyone as excited as I am that it's this close to the weekend? Anyone?

I wore a new pair of pants yesterday from Anthropologie (where else, right?). I really like the button selection, the fabric choice, and the cut (slightly high-waist). The only issue I have with them is whether or not I like the straight leg, or if I want the hem to taper. I know that tapered hems and hourglass/pear shapes don't mix because it accentuates the widest part of the body (the hips). For some reason though, I think I can make it work with these pants because of the higher rise and I could also pair them with other items in the same color family. But then if I do that, I'm limiting myself to the different ways that I can wear it. See my dilemma?! That's only a taste of the carnival in my mind. It's filled with cotton candy machines, tilt-a-whirls, side-shows, carnies; it's packed in there!

Before I digress further, I will ask for your opinion. I took 2 sets of photos for this post, one with my pants worn as designed and the other with the hem pinned. To taper or not to taper? Let me know your thoughts in the comments.

Worn as designed

you pull them both off, but i think i like them best as is :)
Tapered!
Great outfit! I love navy and white together and the green belt is really nice.

I like the pants both ways and I definitely think you can pull off the tapered hem. Just looking at these photos though, if I had to chose, I think I like them as is a little bit better.
me?? definitely YAY for the Worn as Designed...i actually pictured you first with tapered but. It turned out that I like it on you on my Yay...
you're funny on the shoe thing Kimmie..If i have them, i might just wear them on a fashion week then they stay for display (wc is 75% of my shoes are)--- this paranoia of dirt and damage...
I think worn as designed flatters you best. Cute outfit!
Tough one--both are flattering on you. I think I tend to lean toward the first one (untapered) though. For some reason I think they will be more versatile with shoes as well as will be a bit dressier (and therefore more wearing options).

Love the blog!
I like them tapered, personally. : ) And I'm chock full of book recommendations! Same Kind Of Different As Me was my recent favorite read. It's life changing. And The Sugar Queen (or anything by Sarah Allen Addison really) is really good too. These are both pretty quick and easy reads too! Happy reading.

tapered is my vote... I just bought a pair from Gap... and I feel the taper gives it more of a sleek look. the straight leg for reason makes them more casual?... they are adorable either way ;-)
Love the tapered look!
hmm I really like both but I agree with a previous poster that the taper makes them look a little more "dressed up" while as is they are kind of casual. Both ways look really great!
This really is a nice outfit! the necklace looks very classy on the white blouse
I like them tapered! You have beautiful hips, why not emphasize them? :)
You are such a beauty!
I prefer you in the straight leg but I think you can pull off both styles so pick what you feel comfortable/fabulous in.

PS - diggin' the belt choice
Hi Kimmie, i'm a bit slow and didnt get the chance to read this one! I actually think there's not that much difference between the straight and tapered. Being dark coloured pants, the difference is only slight. I seriously would not have known if you didn't mention it. Having said that, you pull off both ways without a problem. I probably do like the tapered one a *little* more...but it's a tough call!
I think both styles are cute. However, if you want options you could always add a zipper along the lower seam. I love a tapered leg because is shows off your shape.
The pants - and you - are beautiful either way, but I've always been a fan of tapered hems. They seem so much clean and versatile to me.
